Determined - Loving and Loyal

I started my career in residential care for older people in 1981 at the age of 16 this soon became a vocation.

After a life changing event in 1993 I was determined to set goals in my life and decided I wanted to make more of a difference to the lives of the people I was caring for.

I have a passion for improving the quality of life for people, I believe life is precious. I worked hard using stepping stones and eventually became the Registered Manager of a care home in 1997.

I managed the home for 7 years and enjoyed every minute but felt I needed to do more. I needed to be in a position where I could make decisions in relation to improving the quality of residential care being provided. In 2004 I took up the position of Residential Services Manager managing 12 council run Residential Homes for older people.

Things were improving and changes were being made then I met David Sheard in 2011 and was blown away. I worked alongside Dementia Care Matters transforming two care homes into level 1 Butterfly Homes and won the Care Council for Wales Accolade for Better Outcomes for People Living with a Dementia in 2013.

In December 2015 after 34 years of working for the local council I made the decision to leave so I could spend some quality time with my 84 year old Mother.

I love working and being with people and felt that I still needed this, so joined the team at DCM in May this year 2016 as an associate consultant.

My personal life revolves around my family and friends, I love being a social butterfly organising events, celebrations and holidays. I just love life and people!!
