David Sheard goes to Canada 2014

David will be travelling to Canada to deliver workshops, webinars and his Keynote speech. He will be working in association with Institute for Continuing Care Education and Research (ICCER) and the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Below is the itinerary:

Australian Government's Better Practice Conference 2014

David Sheard has been delivering his keynote speech as part of the Australian Government Aged Care Quality Agency's conference - 'Better Practice 2014'. He has spoken at five locations including Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane from the UK using Skype.

Upcoming conference dates that he will be speaking at include Perth on Thursday 16th October and in Hobart on Thursday 20th November 2014.

Southern Healthcare Conference - "Safeguarding Emotions Matters in Dementia Care"

Dementia Care Matters will be running this Conference with Southern Healthcare in Exeter on Tuesday 4th November 2014.

David Sheard, Eve Carder and Margaret Harries will be facilitating workshops and delivering presentations. 

Apetito Annual Conference 2014

David Sheard will be speaking at the Apetito Annual Conference - Thursday 6th November.

Peter Priednieks will be speaking on the second day of the Apetito Conference - Friday 7th November. 

"9th UK Dementia Congress & 5th National Care Awards"

The largest dementia-focussed event in the UK will be held at the Hilton Brighton Metropole - Monday 10th until Wednesday 12th November 2014.

The Dementia Care Matters team of Consultant Trainers will be involved at Congress as follows:

  • David Sheard will Chair the Congress Debate - The motion: 'This house believes that only the media have the power to get action on bad practice in care of people with dementia.' Monday 10th November.

  • Workshop - Tuesday 11th November - 'Places Off The Ground - A Family in Flight in Dementia Care'. David Sheard and Mara Neimanis jointly explore the lessons learned from the 'Naomi's Flight' performance for working with family caregivers. The free performance is open to Congress delegates to attend on Monday 10th November at 9pm in The Old Market Theatre, Hove.

  • Question Time Panel - Tuesday 11th November - A chance to discuss pressing issues in dementia care with a focus on safeguarding, best interest decisions and the Mental Capacity Act. Panel includes Dementia Care Matters Consultant Trainer, Sally Knocker.

  • Symposium Overseas Staff - 'More pride, less predudice - what person-centred care means to overseas workers' - Sally Knocker, Dementia Care Matters and Hannah Salter, Shaw Healthcare. Wednesday 12th November.

  • Leadership and Staff Development - 'Quality of life matters most - a journey of culture change' - Louise Collins, Wisteria House Care Home and Daren Felgate, Dementia Care Matters. Wednesday 12th November.

  • Workshop - 'The right touch matters in personal care' - This workshop will be facilitated by Luke Tanner, Dementia Care Matters Consultant Trainer. Luke will explore the factors that determine people's experience of touch from the persepctive of someone living with a cognitive impairment. Wednesday 12th November.
