Supported Housing – Mattering At Home Living with a Dementia

A Two day course

For the last 15 years David Sheard has provided consultancy and training alongside supported housing projects.

These projects offer a real alternative to people living with a dementia through being in their own flats or houses as tenants rather than living in a care home.

This 2 day Workshop,  provides a summary of Davids experiences and transferable learning from adapting person-centred models of care, environments and staffing approaches within supported housing.

Enabling Living

“ Successfully designed Supported Housing projects are not enough in themselves purely by providing a dementia specific designed environment. This design needs to be synchronised with a new model of person-centred support and an empowered staff team. It is a very different relationship and skill from working in a care home to being able to strike a balance between offering choice, ensuring independence and negotiating partnerships between tenants and support workers ”
Dr David Sheard, CEO/Founder Dementia Care Matters

This 2 day Workshop identifies the key components needed in a person-centred and relationship focussed service.
